HISTORY
North Hills Christian School was established in 1972 in the Mt. Nebo area
as a ministry of Allegheny Baptist Temple. Its goal was to provide solid
academic training in a traditional education, emphasizing Christian principles
and character. The school began offering just grade one through six and
began the year with just sixteen students meeting in the basement of a
125 year old church building. Even though we only had sixteen high school
students, four high school staff members, and limited facilities, we were
able to provide Christian families with a quality option to the humanist
and relativist philosophies that were prevalent in many of the area public
schools. Since that time, hundreds of graduates have moved on to colleges
and careers, well prepared for the opportunities and challenges that God
has presented.
God has greatly blessed North Hills Christian School since that time.
In 2004, the school and founding church, now known as Fellowship Baptist
Church, moved to their present location on Conway Wallrose Road in Economy
Borough near Cranberry Township. Now we have a twenty-five acre campus,
fifteen faculty members, thirteen classrooms, a computer lab, a science
lab, a library, a music room and a cafeteria. Even though we have undergone
many changes over the past thirty-four years, our goals at North Hills
Christian School have not changed. It is still our desire to aid families
in providing their children a quality education from a Christian perspective.
What significantly sets North Hills Christian school apart from other
schools is its dedicated staff and its low student/teacher ratio (an average
of six to one). Since its founding, North Hills Christian School has seen
its graduates serve the Lord in fields such as missions, medicine, law,
business, theology, entrepreneurship, management, labor, volunteer service,
law enforcement, evangelism, education, the military, journalism, finance,
political science, and many other fields. Whether in the secular or the
religious field, the majority of our graduates have found the solid academics,
character development, and biblical teaching that they received to have
been a benefit that has far surpassed the cost of the tuition paid. We
pray that God will continue to bless this ministry and that we will remain
faithful to the principles upon which it was founded.
