ElementaryThe NHCS elementary program continues to build on the foundation provided by the kindergarten program. Emphasis continues on the critical areas of reading, math, and understanding biblical principles. There is also a strong emphasis on phonics-based reading program that stresses vocabulary development and reading comprehension. The traditional mathematics program stresses speed and accuracy in computation and applying skills in problem solving. English skills are taught with the goal of effectively using English in writing and speech. An integral part of the elementary program is the Bible class, which lays the foundation upon which Christian character can be built. Bible classes also emphasize the importance of finding a personal relationship with Christ through God's plan of salvation. Heritage studies and science are added as the children progress through the elementary school. Music, art, computer skills, and physical education are taught throughout the elementary program. Attention is given to adequately prepare the students to be academically, socially, and spiritually ready for junior high school. |
